Masumi Kura (b. 1975, Toyama Prefecture, Japan) graduated from Tokyo Visual Arts College in 2001, where she studied photography. Since graduating, Kura has published a number of photobooks, taking an almost documentary approach from a personal perspective.
Kura has been the subject of a number of solo exhibitions in Japan, China, and Korea. Her work has also been featured in several group exhibitions, both in Japan and abroad. Her work can be found in notable public collections, such as the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Photography, the Shanghai Art Museum, and the Okinawa Prefectural Museum & Art Museum.
